Clinical Feature
It presents within 1-2weeks
Onset - Insidious, acute or chronic
Cough - most common feature of with copious expectoration of foul smelling, greenish yellow and mucopurulent sputum.
It may be rusty and blood stained.
Pyrexia-High remittent fever with shivering and sweating.
Chest pain- Pleuritic pain if pleural surface involved
Generalized symptoms- Malaise, lassitude, loss of weight, anorexia.
Signs
Temperature: Very high with tachycardia
Clubbing of fingers
Dullness on percussion and few coarse crepitation during early phase.
Signs of cavity or local consolidation may occur when pus is expectorated out
Sign of pleural effusion may mask other signs.
