Cervical spondylosis is the degeneration of the vertebral column from any causes.

In the more narrow sense it refers to spinal osteoarthritis,the age related wear and tear of the spinal column,which is the most common cause of Spondylosis.

This degenerative process in osteoarthritis chiefly affects the vertebral bodies,the neural foramina and the facet joints (facet syndrome) If severe,it may cause pressure on the spinal cord or nerves roots with subsequent sensory or motor disturbances.

Ruta Graveolens

This is used for the condition where periosteum is affected.

Fusion of two cervical bones causes mechanical pressure on the afferent nerves.

This results in pain like electric shock,when turned,or on bending the head.

Bruised feeling all over the arm as from the blow.

In these patients we find the peculiar tendency of depositing the calcium salts in periosteum bone so as to fill the gap which is the causative factor of this pain.

Stitching type of pain in scapular region,when sitting.But this condition is improved when the patient moves from his place.

In general the patient is chilly.

He is sensitive to cold and is worse in damp wet weather.

Patient is thirsty and has thirst for ice-cream water.

Neuralgic pains worse by lying down.

Patient complaints of strains of eye due to exertion of vision.

Eyes are red and painful.

Patient is not in the position to concentration.

Sore and bruised feeling in the upper extremities,with tingling sensation.

Cervical spondylosis due to sprain or overexertion.

Lameness after sprains.

Patient has constant feeling of lassitude, weakness and despair.

Patient is nervous and restless.

Modalities- Aggravation in damp wet weather,cold,at night times, evening Ameliorate by Ice-cold water,when alone,rest in particular position.


Arnica Montana

The disease in the remedy is manifested by the neuralgia pain in upper extremities, weaking spastic muscle by tendon lengthening, cervical spondylosis due to mechanical trauma. Sensation in the cervical region of cervical spine as if the patient would not be in the position to carry over the weight of head .Sensation of crawling in vertebral column.Pain in the cervical region as if due to blunt trauma.Vertigo due to compression of the nerve roots.Movement of the head causes giddiness.Bruished soreness of the muscles.There may be extra vasation of the blood,thus the parts seems to be bluish black.History of mechanical injury.Region is very painful and sensitive to touch.Sore lamb and bruised feeling of the affected parts.

In the general,the patient is over sensitivity to pain.This remedy is suited,wherever there is history of mechanical trauma.

Previous contusion, concussion and injury to cervical vertebrae causes the trouble.

It controls the inflammatory condition of the disease.

Patient is uneasy and restless due to pain.

Modalities-Aggravation by minimum touch, movement,rest in bed, damp or cold water.

Better by lying down,in head low position. 


Ledum pal

Pain in cervical region as if penetrated by sharp objects,pain starts in fingers and then extend upward to shoulder and then to neck.

This may be due to lack of vascular supply for a segment of the cord.Patient complaints of local and reffered pain to right scapula,parasthesia, over the radial aspect of the forearm thumb and index finger.Affected parts are cold and pale.

Patient has the rheumatic diathesis.The pain like cervical spondylosis travels upwards patient has tendency to produce eruption over the skin.

Gouty pain in joint.

Small joints are affected.

Crackling joint.

The complaints are aggravated in warm room.Soles and painful.

Vertigo when walking with tendency to fall on one side.

Stitching when touched

Patient is mentally irritable due to agonizing pain in cervical region.

Giddiness makes the patient more confused.For this he has lost his confidence,and courage.

Restless.

Modalities-Aggravated by warmth in general,warm drink,warm clothing,warmth of bed,touch and motion.

Better by Ice-cold water and rest.


Spigelia

Painful numbness in the cervical region, extended to left arm.

Tingling sensation in the fingers.

Heaviness  to the left arm.

As this remedy has particular affinity towary the nerves, it acts best in neuralgia conditions.lt is observed that,when lateral compression is found,this remedy has to best role to play.The parts are sensitive to touch.

Patient complaints of sharp stitching type of pains.

Stinging and stitching type of pain in cervical region.
